How to take the bath in the
 ocean ( Samudra snanam) ?

Specially on the occasions of the festivals, it is

said that we have to take bath in the oceans.

On full moon days which are called as Pournami ,

specially on some pournami days the

samudra snanam should be done what the Sastras say.

In the months of Maagha maasa,

Vaisakha maasa, Aashadha maasa, and

Kaartika maasa , particularly  on the

pournami  (full moon ) days, taking bath

in the ocean is very auspicious which is believed.

On the occasions of some festivals

also we take the bath. But , before

taking bath in the ocean (or sea) first

we have to take the bath with the

cold water and then complete

the snanam in the sea .

Again after that we should

take the bath with cold water.

Because, the ocean water does

 have the  much salt.

Bathing in the salt water is not advisable

and it causes for illeness and

more over  spending much time

for bathing in the seas  is also not advised.

Why is  the Bride  brought in a basket
to the Kalyana mandapam ( marriage pavilion )  ?

The marriage customs are so

auspicious and have the meaning .

The Goddess Sree Mahalakshmi

lives in the lotus flower.

On the occasion of marriage,

the  Bride is brought in a basket.

The Bride herself is a Sree Mahalakshmi

and the basket is a lotus flower.

So symbolically the bride who is

Goddess  Sree Lakshmi

is brought in a basket of lotus flower.
