Why do we wear the bracelet
(Kankana Dhaarana) ?
The bracelet is not an ordinary bangle which
the people wear for the sake of fascination and show.
It is an ornament for the wrist to undertake
a work with determination vow to do something.
Also it is a sacred thread tied round the wrist at
the commencement of an auspicious functions.
The customs are related with the Vratam
( religious vow), Nomu (perform worship of a deity ) ,
Marriage ceremonies, and Yagna and
other auspicious occasions.
At the time of Sree Gauri Pooja,
Sree Satyanarayana Vratam, marriage ceremonies ,
observing the performance of Yagna
and other religious functions, normally the
bracelet or the turmeri and kumkum coated
sacred threads tied round the wrist.
This is a symbolic for that they are
undertaking a sacred work with determination vow to do.
It is the concept that there should not be any
disturbance to the result of worship and
the feeling and till that the sacred thread is worn ,
and the same determination is continued with
peace to fulfil the task which is undertaken.
For that the cotton thread is tied round
the wrist by appling the turmeric as a sacred.
With this, among the pulses in the body,
the main pulse ( pulse which throbs with) is
extended upto the wrists of the hands.
So, if that sacred thread is tied round
the wrist, with that friction, the blood
circulation and the heart vibrations
can be done uniformly and orderly.
That pulse is spread to the womb.
So, the doctors can diagnose that the
lady is pregnant by simply touching their hand pulse.
Because of that prominene takes place,
and also it will be atleast an excercise
to some extent , on the auspicious occasions,
it is said to tie the sacred thread round the wrist.
