Why do we chant the Shanti Mantra for three times ?

In the Vedas, Upanishads , and other sastras,

all the Mantras were  ended by the

 tip of the Shanti Mantra.

The Shanti Mantra is like a central bead

 of a Rosary (Japa maala).

Without Shanti there can not be  found

any peace or happiness in this world.

The total  wealth, the entire comfortness,

the science and the technology , the power and

every  and materialistic things in this universe

can not be compared with and also can

not be equal with  the Shanti mantra.

The Shanti Mantra is enchanted thrice

(three times) like “ Om Shantih , Shantih , Shantih”.

The Hindu philosophy is related with the

 numeric number Three.

The Paramaathma, the Jeeva and the

Prakruti are in three numeric number.

The Avasthas are three, the Jaagradavastha,

the Swapnaavastha and the Sushupti.

The time is divided into three parts, i.e.,

Past , Present  and the Future

(Bhoota, Vartamaana and Bhavishat kaala).

Three Thimurthi which are Brahma, Vishnu and Siva.

They are the  Srushti, Sthiti and Laya kaarakas.

The Gunas are  Sattwa, Rajah and Tamah.

Like wise many can be discussed with

the three numeric number.

The number has got such a meaningful power.

Therefore  we give the importance to

the numeric number  Three.

Here, chanting the Shanti Mantra for three times

means, the first time enchanted Shanti,

should become tranquil from the catastrophe

 ( natural calamity).

The second time enchanted Shanti, should

eliminate the vileness, jealosy, hatredness,

etc from our hearts and gets puried .

The third time enchanted Shanti, should

cure (heal) all the dieseases in our bodies.

The foremost  the mantra Om which is added,

praying to the Lord, “ O God ! protect

all of us, means us, our people and all others.

Hence, the Shanti mantra has  such a wonderful,

great and  outstanding meaning is given

to the mankind  to this world to

pervade the real shanti every where.
