Why did  Lord Sree Krishna wear
the  crest of peacock.?

Lord Sree Krishna was the incornation of
Sree Maha Vishnuh. Sree Krishna is the
Sampoorna Avatara (perfect incarnation)  what the
Bhagavatam says.

The God is Askhalita Brahmachari.

He always used to wear the creast of Peacock.

In the universe , the Peacock only the creature
which   does not have the carnal enjoyment.

When it sees the Peahen
then the male peacock spreads its crest and dances.

At the moment the  drops from its eyes fall ,
then the she  peahen dinks  the
eye drops and becomes pregnant.

Lord Sree krishna has sixteen thousand Gopikas .

He played rasaleela with them  ( the dance of Sri Krishna with
Gopikas at Brindavanam).

The Lord played with them and  did  naughtiness.

Just upto that only,  he acted. This symbolize
the creast which he wore on his head.

But the Lord Sree Krishna was not a Bhogi
(He was not a pleasure-seeker) but
He was Yogeeswara (a real Ascetic).

He looks like a Bhogi but He was a Yogi.

The meaning for wearing that Crest of Peacock,
which symbolize that He
behaves and moves about with all others by his
devotional love which is pure and sacred.
The perfect meaning  of
that can be seen in every aspect.  And also
the  Gopikas were the sages (Rishis) in the Tretayuga.

Here  the Peacock is symbol for the purity.

Hence  that Peacock has become our Nation’s National Bird.
