Why the Gobbillu ( Ball of cow-dunk decorated
with termeric etc .,)  are woshipped  in Dhanurmasa ?

In the religion, the customs are follwed by strong beliefs

as there are certain reasons which the people are born

by nature  with  the spiritual concepts in them.

Without knowing or knowing the reasons, the customs

have been observed  for the fruitful of the people  with

the completion of their ancient  traditions and customs.

The  Dharnurmasa enters  in the month of December

(winter season) , that too mostly after 16th of December.

The nature is   delightful with cold  and

the nights  pass in the  tranquility.

The people get up early in the morning because the

Dharnumasa is itself a festivity season for the adorning,

worshipping and  rejoicing in the pleasant

atmosphere for both the mundane and spiritual aspects.

The  Makara Sankranti  (Pongal) comes

by the end of  Dhanurmasa only.

All the villages are seen  in jubilation with their  harvest.

The farmer (cultivator) is the spine of the nation.

He is the food giver (Anna Aaata).

Here in this Dharnurmasa, all the festivity

can be seen in the Villages.

The customs are followed according to the tradion.

Even  in the towns and cities also the

same tradition is observed with the devotion.

Normally all the people know about the Gobbillu

which are the balls of cow-drung decorated with

termeric, vermilion  and flowers , kept in front  of the

houses as a symbol of a Deity which is Sree Lakshmi.

In traditional manner,  in front of the houses,

people draw designs on the ground with coloured

 powders which are called Rangavallikas.

On those Coloured desings (Rangavalli) ,

the Gobbillu are kept and decorated  with

the powder of rice,  Kumkum, turmeric,

flowers etc., and worshipped  the Deity  .

The Goddess, Sree Mahalakshmi is in the

form of Gobbillu which is strongly

 believed  and then worshipped.

Many other reasons can be seen by doing this customs.

Getting up early in the morning, taking

bath with cold water, doing all these

traditional customs and worshipping the

Goddess would be a great benefic of Ihika

 Aamushmika of  the joyful feelings,

kind of excercise, devotion,  health reason etc.

So, in every tradtional custom there is a reason of benefit.

The Dhanurmasa festivity can not be described except

visit the villages and see personally the joy and

devotion  of the people.

Shall  a woman wear the Rudrakshah or not ?

We  already discussed about the Rudraksha how

sacred it is and the benefits if it is worn.

But in the case of women ...

By nature she  feels  discomfort and

strain on those five days which is restricted.

Like wise, the twenty one days after the delivery which

is a filth impurity (Suthakam) and this is also restricted.

And the other  days of  Asoucha which  is also impurity .

So by observing all that, if the women want to wear

the Rudrakshah, they inevitably have to  wear.

By observing all those impurity days,  women

can not keep the Rudraksha sacred.

Hence the women should not wear

the Rudraksha what it is said.

But in the case of  widows,  here

and there they  wear Rudraksha maala .

Why do we chant the Shanti Mantra for three times ?

In the Vedas, Upanishads , and other sastras,

all the Mantras were  ended by the

 tip of the Shanti Mantra.

The Shanti Mantra is like a central bead

 of a Rosary (Japa maala).

Without Shanti there can not be  found

any peace or happiness in this world.

The total  wealth, the entire comfortness,

the science and the technology , the power and

every  and materialistic things in this universe

can not be compared with and also can

not be equal with  the Shanti mantra.

The Shanti Mantra is enchanted thrice

(three times) like “ Om Shantih , Shantih , Shantih”.

The Hindu philosophy is related with the

 numeric number Three.

The Paramaathma, the Jeeva and the

Prakruti are in three numeric number.

The Avasthas are three, the Jaagradavastha,

the Swapnaavastha and the Sushupti.

The time is divided into three parts, i.e.,

Past , Present  and the Future

(Bhoota, Vartamaana and Bhavishat kaala).

Three Thimurthi which are Brahma, Vishnu and Siva.

They are the  Srushti, Sthiti and Laya kaarakas.

The Gunas are  Sattwa, Rajah and Tamah.

Like wise many can be discussed with

the three numeric number.

The number has got such a meaningful power.

Therefore  we give the importance to

the numeric number  Three.

Here, chanting the Shanti Mantra for three times

means, the first time enchanted Shanti,

should become tranquil from the catastrophe

 ( natural calamity).

The second time enchanted Shanti, should

eliminate the vileness, jealosy, hatredness,

etc from our hearts and gets puried .

The third time enchanted Shanti, should

cure (heal) all the dieseases in our bodies.

The foremost  the mantra Om which is added,

praying to the Lord, “ O God ! protect

all of us, means us, our people and all others.

Hence, the Shanti mantra has  such a wonderful,

great and  outstanding meaning is given

to the mankind  to this world to

pervade the real shanti every where.

Why it is said to light the lamp with
gingili oil  in the Kaartika maasa ?

The Kaartika maasa starts almost

 in the winter season.

In that season, the  time of days are less

and the nights are excessive and

also in that season it gets cold.

The heat in day time comes down.

There is variance  in the health conditions.

At the time of twilight ( In the evening time ) ,

if we see the lamps  which are lit with the

gingili oil and also with the Go ghrutam

(cow’s ghee) that gives the much plesantness

to the eyes and also some kind of eye diseases

and also eye doshas (delinquence) will be cured.

Some kind of respiratory problems due to

the atmosphere and the cold will be cured.

The heat in the body which is  lessened

in that winter and that  can be gained to

some extent  and the health condition  would be

good  because of worshipping with the oil lamps.

In the winter, due to the oil lamp light,

some species of insects can be destroyed.

Hence, there is a lot of benefit for lighting the oil lamp.

On Deepavali day (Diwali day) where the
lighting lamps ( with ginjili  oil or goghrutam)
at home should be placed ?

On Deepavali day, mainly five lighting lamps

ought to be decorated at our homes.

The first and first,  the lamp should be

placed at Pooja mandir, the second lamp

at the meditaion room or place, the third lamp

should be plced at the well , the fourth lamp

at the peepul tree, and the fifth lamp

at the Tulasi plant (which Basil).

Instead of peepul tree the lamp can be

placed in front of the threshold of the main entrance.

Suppose, if the festival is not celebrated

on any other reasons, the lamps can be lit.

Eating  food in the bronze vessel,
causes  for any good result ?

The Bronze has got some kind of quality

which gives the colour  to the body.

Besides, it increases the pangs of hunger

 (jatharaagni) and  the digestive power.

The bronze has the capacity of giving

colour complexion to the skin.

The bronze absorbs the eccentricity (paityam) and

also it is so good to the eyes what the science tells.

If the body takes those qualities, naturally it gets the charmness.

What is the   process for loosing the
heaviness (weight)  and  also
the fat of the body ?

There are plenty of methods , if we follow strictly

for loosing weight and the fat of our bodies.

A number of excercises, yoga methods   have

come into existence for the benefit in this  modern times.

Most of the educated and even illiterates follow

those excercises regularly and getting some good results.

In a simple way, the walking, cycling and also swimming

can give the good result which people do that.

Ofcourse, some kinds of games and sports also give the best results.

Besides, following those things, if we take  the herbal

treatment  which is availability even for a common man,

certainly we will have the best positive results

in few weeks  what the Ayurveda medical science tells.

If we take every day, in the morning, in a cup ( or glass)

of warm water, adding a spoon of pure honey

and a spoon of lemon juice , that would be

an excellent treatment  to reduce the fat in the body.

And also the body can get the colour complexion.

The lemon is the antioxidant item that  prevents the dieses

and the honey gives the strength and also for the hair

and also both they are good for resist the oldness so ealy.

The benefits are many if we see the Ayurvedic science

and also we can know practically those benefits if we put it into practice.

The honey must be old and pure.

In olden days, elderly people got used to know these

kinds of treatments and for  a mother of a baby

or infant, if the mother does not have the breast milk,

then the elderly ladies, used to apply the honey around

the breast to give milk for the feeding of the baby or infant.

Hence, the excercises and the  herbal treatment of the Ayurvedic

Science are the boons to the mankind.

Is it misfortune or fortune  whether the
Sparrows build their
nests (niches)  in the houses ?

There is some belief in some  people that some thing

luck will be gained  if the sparrows build the

nests  in the house, that too back side of the

photo frame  which is hanged on  the wall.

Even some film stars believe this.

Once five  and a half  decades ago,  in the

film industry one of the super stars in

Westren India had that strong belief , that a

good luck would be received that  the sparrows build

the nests backside of the photos which are hanged.

And in his case, it happend like that  and

he became a super star and he  was a handsome also.

But , in the pancha yagnas , the bhoota

yagnam is also one among them.

What is meant by the Bhoota Yaganam and

still this custom is being performed  and this tradition

has been carried over centuries together.

The  Bhoota Yaganam means, feeding the food

to the cattle, birds and other animals without

 expecting any benefit from them.

Right from  the  good olden days, early in the

morning, the people , in the villages

( now most of the villages have become

towns  and the cities) used to feed the birds,  cattle

(the cattle which were not belonging to them also)

and other fauna which were living in the villages.

Giving food to them is equivalent to do the Yagna.

What ever the  result is received  if the Yagna is done ,

the same thing can be achieved when the cattle,

birds and other animals are fed.

 They are totally  inexpressible creatures

and they can not speak.

And also in olden days people used to make

some abode (living place) to those creatures.

Arranging some dwelling places for those

animals, birds etc., would be a great charitable deed

(Punya kaaryam) what the people used to do.

Those places should not be shttered (disturbed) and moved.

Even in the temples every day morning and evening,

the priests do the Bhoota Yagnam and feed the

Naivedyam  to the birds, ants and other creatures.

So, like that the sparrows also build their nests in the

edges of the laths fixed along the roofs.
