What is the Holyness and speciality  of Kaartika Masa ?

According to the Almanac there are twelve Hindu maasa
(months) starts from Chaitra maasa as per Lunar system .
After Asweeyuja maasa (immediately after Deepavali festival)
the Kartika Masa begins. This masa (month) is so sacred for
Lord Parameswara.

All the Hindus treat this month so special for devotion and
follow the customs so firmly. They get so early in the monring,
get head bath and do the nitya Siva pooja and  worship Tulasi .
Some do fasting complete day  and at the twilight time when
the moon rises then again do the pooja and then take their
day meal. Some do the head bath in the Sacred Rivers
like Ganges, Godavari, Krishna, Cauveri, Tungabhadra etc.,

As per the Kartika Puran and Siva Puran, they say in this masa
one has to observe  strictly the controlling of  sense organs
(Indriya Nigrah). Those who do that Indriya nigrah and do
Mantra and Japa Anushtanam with the following of all sacred
customs, certainly they will get relieved from the sins.
In this Kartika Masa the Lord Sri Vishnu also  must be
worshipped with Tulasi (Basil) leaves and river water.
Worship the tree of Indian Gooseberry (Amalaki Vrukshah) and also under that tree,

one has to do the Pindapradanam  with embryo of food
ceremonially to the spirit of a deceased ancestors.
One has to eat  the Amalaki  either in the form of pickles or curries.
At nights it is restricted.

And every one wear that Amalaki garland as sacred thing.

In this Kartika Masa , fix a pillar Sthambham) in ground, and hang  a vessel
which contains some holes  and keep the oil (cow ghee) lamp and make
that  lustre of lamp spread  to all sides and pray to that lamp also.
By doing this, we are praying to all the Deities and Gods.
