How to take food ?

Taittireeya Brahmanam tells, two time meals is required

 for the human being and if any  any food is not taken in

between that which it could be a Upavasa Phalam (result of fasting) .

When eating food one must face towards the East. 

If we do like that one will have the longvity. 

If we take food facing towards the South we can get the fame.

  If we take the food by facing towards the North, 

the desires will be fulfilled.

But one should not eat food facing towards the South and

 the West what the Vishnu Puranam and Vamana Puranam say.

Hence all the Sastras accept  with one accord that everyone

 should eat the food by facing towards the East.

One should not sit on the leaves or on the iron planks

 (low stools) and eat the food.

Who wants to earn or get money , he must eat the

 food on  the leaves of either Banyan , or Calotropis gigantea

(Arkah in Sanskrit Language) or Pipal (holy fig tree)

(Aswatha Vrukshah in Sanskrit language) or Leucas aspera or

Pungam tree called  Pongamia giabra.

The Renounced Sanyasis( Religious Mendicates) must

 take their food on the leaves of tree called flame of the forest or

Butea frondosa ( Palasah in Sanskrit language).

Before eating and finishing the food one should do the

Achamanam (sipping water in driblets as part of religious oblation).

Before eating our food we must have to 

do the salutation with joined hands.

Man should not do these things.

What are they ? 

In Hindu Sastras (ancient sacred scripts) say so many

Dharmas (Alms) for the mankind.  Among them, the man

should do certain things and should not do other things. 

Bad always must be eleminated from us. First if we know

 about the bad, naturally the good comes out of it. 

 What is the Light, when there is no darkness, every where there is light.

Here man mut not do these things under any circumstances. 

One  should not do Namaste (join palms as a mark of respect )

 to the running person, who is yawning and also 

who is taking  head bath.

One should not take the bath in the rivers, or sea when his

wife is pregnant. Like that he should not have the hair cutting

and also mountaineering.

One should not see the lady at the time of adorning her eyes . 

with collyrium (eye salve of black colour) (Anjanam in Sanskrit language)

and also when  the lady is bathing.

One should not watch the reflection ( pratibimbam) of the

Sun when it rises and setting time and also

should not see the Sun in the mirror.

One should not see his  own reflection in the water, should not

pluck the leaves of any tree at night and also at night one should not

 draw water from the well.

One should not have ejection of impurities and urinate 

at the time of applying oil on his head and the body.

One should not see his wife at the time when she is taking food,

 yawning and also sneezing. If it happens to see,

then better to see other side.

On every Chaturdasi day (fourteenth day of Sukla paksha and

 also Krishna paksha) (means twice in a month) one must

not drink the milk.

. And also he should sleep separately from

 his wife on the Amavasya Day.

One should not be without waist band (gridle)

(Kati Sutram in sanksrit language) at any time. 

So he should wear that gridle.

The woman  should not break the pumpking.

The man should not blown out the oil lamp.

 One must not admonish (reprimand) any animal which

drinks water and also the calf which drinks milk

from its mother. If it is done that  would be  a great  sin

Why a Hindu  should put a cosmetic mark or

 Kumkuma on the forehead ?

The Human Body consists of many organs. For each organ

it has its  own Deity.

The Lalatah (the forehead) is the  place for

Lord Brahma Deva. Means the Lalatah is the sacred place

 for Brahmadeva.. 

The colour for Brahma Deva is red.  

Hence the Brahma Sthana of Lalatah (forehead) should be

adorned with the mark of cosmetic which is Kumkuma. 

The forehead should  not be exposed to the Sun Rays. 

The Jeeva which is also called Prana resides in the

Human body at the place of Bhru Madhya (flown) and  in the

 form of Jyothih that too in tbe Agna Chakra. And also

it resides in the Tranquility state in the place

 of Heart in Anahata Chakra.

If the Kumkuma mark is adorned in the forehead with

 the ring finger, one attains the divine peace. 

If the middle finger  is usedone can have the longvity.

If the thumb is used one canget the energy. 

If the point finger is used we can get

the devotion and  emancipation.

The Kumkuma is always better than the plastic blotch. 

The kumkuma is good for insecticidal (Krimisamharakam).

So every one must wear the well-being Kumkuma

on their foreheads. 

When the Kumkuma is blotted on theforehead, then 

it says we are worshipping the Jnaja Chakram.

Where was the  Bilva tree born ?

The Bilva tree is of  the species of Fig. The leaves,

of which are sacred and pleasing to the God.  

In the Mythology, when Lord Sree Maha Vishnu was doing

 penance  with Goddess Sri Lakshmi Devi  for the God Siva,

the tree Bilva was born from the right hand of Sree Lakshmi Devi.

Then the Lord Siva was appeared infront of them and entrusted

to  Sree Narayana the duty of  protecting the world .

The Bilva tree is also being called as Sree Vruksham which is

sacred. This sacred Bilva tree was planted in the celestial world

(Indra loka), on the Mountain of Mandara and also in the

Vaikuntha loka. 

This Bilva Tree which is  beloved to Lord Siva can

be treated as so sacred and with their leaves we can  worship

lord Siva any day. If we pick or pluck the leaves on Monday,

then we should worship on the same day. 

We should not worship  with the dried leaves and also 

the leaves are not useful whichare two or three days 

before picked up  from the tree. 

If we circumambulate round the Bilva Tree, all the

 evil offences will be removed.

Those who are not having the progeny will beget children.

The Bilva Leave is itself more valuable than a lakh of golden flowers.

Why the sandal paste is applied to the ladies’ neck

on the Auspicious occasions ?

In Hindu Customs after marriage, the woman in the husband’s

 parental house, should  behave  and talk so affectionally

 with all family members and relatives and others.  

When she behaves and talks with her in-laws  and other

elders and on the occasions , she has to talk so gently and

simply and amicably.

The Sandal paste has the quality of cool,  clear and voiced

 consonant. If  the paste is applied to the neck, slowly the

 tone modulation gets the  clarity of flexibility. 

  So, havingaffection in her heart the lady starts talking with elders and

others moderatly and cordially. Then she will be regarded. 

Even though if the lady has the affection and respects on

 others, if her voice is rough and loud certainly she will be

degraded and blamed. While speaking with others

straightness, modesty, and affecton should be presented to others. 

More over the Sandal wood is one of the auspicious thing

in Eight Gandhas.     

 It is also used for the purpose of worshipping God and

also religious things.

According to the beauty of the lady, the sandal paste is

applied. The Sandal wood is the symbol for Auspiciousness.

Why do we get very good  result when we worship under

the tree of Ficus glomerata ?

We know the tree Ficus glomerata which is called as

Owdumbara in Sanskrit language. The ripen fruit has got

 some kind of sweetness. This is species of fig tree.

In the Kruta yuga, when the Lord Sree Maha Vishnu was in the

 incarnation of Kurma avatara (form of Tortoise) , Mandhata ,

 the great king was ruling the Earth.  

 At that time,  when the  planet Jupiter was

in the position of elevation,

 on the Maagha Suddha Dasami and also Wednesday

 ( the Wednesday should come on  the tenth day of full

moon of Maagha maasa ) and that too at noon , by the

  power Sage, Gowtama Maharshi   the Gowthami river was

manifested  (got appearance) under the Owdumbara tree

( Ficus glomerata tree).

When the Gowthami river was formed, then the Sage,

Gowthama Maharshi took a Kusah ( one kind of grss used

in religious observances) and turned round  the water flow

 of Gowthami river and made it to flow ahead. 

Hence  the sacred river Gowthami was formed 

under the Owdumbara tree ,

 that Owdumbara tree has got fame religious wise. 

The shadow of that Ficus glomerata tree has

become holy by that reason. 

Hence it is said if we worship or do any sacred Homas or

Yagas under that Owdumbura tree one will have the

most auspicious results for that.

Which Flowers are meritorious (renowned) for which ?

We know that we do worship the God or Goddess not only

on Festival time but also in day to day life.  Every day

 in the morning   we do pooja after bath. 

Flowers takevery good place for worship of God. The fragrant flowers

which are said in the scripts are used for the Archana (worship).

But the Flowers are also useful and benefit for other purpose in our lives.

The Lotus flower is the symbolic for Goddess Sree Maha Lakshmi.

 So, if  those flowers are carved on the mail entrance doors

(Simha Dwaram) auspicious.

There is a relation between the Linseed Tree

(Sesbania grandiflora) and the Star of Agasthya Maharshi . 

Suppose, if that Linseed Tree is grown in westren side of the

 house, the Evil Spiritual forces do  not enter into the house.

If the  Sree Chakram ( Goddess Yantram) is worshipped

with Parijatha flowers (Nyctanthes arbortristis) by spatter them

one will get good results. The Parijatham flower tree which

was a celestial tree in the mythology brought by 

Lord Sree krishna from the Indra Loka

 for the sake of Satyabhama. The Lord  brought that celestial tree

and dent in the garden of His palace.

The Timber tree called Ferwinalia alata has got its flowers. 

It is called as Arjunah in Sanksrit Language.There are two kinds of Timber

trees. One is black and another is white. But the white timber tree

 has got the quality of medicine for the treatment. 

These flowersare suggested for the worship. If we worship

the Goddesses withthose white timber tree flowers, 

one will get the auspicious results.

We know the plant called Coccinia indica which is Bimbam in

Sanskrit language and also used for vegetable curry. These

Coccinia indica flowers are so benefic for the  people those who

want progeny.  This tree is also called forest Coccinia Indica.  

Those who want children they worship the creeper of that Coccinia Indica.

Some believe if these flowers are adorned  in the head , certainly

 the woman will beget child.
