No Tidhi, No  Week and No Soola Doshas for the journeys. When ?

We observe many    customs as we believe in the sacred scripts. For all the Rituals and even for small Custom we follow the auspicious and inauspicious timings and for all the things we consult with the Vedic Scholars and follow the Almanac also.

Normally the Brahmee muhurta, which is two and a half hours before the Sun Rise is treated as very auspicious time for so many customs. The time is so plesant, peace and quiet. No obstruction for the work finishing. We know about this.

But for the journeys, we have to look into the Almanac and follow the instructions and guidelines whether to go on that particular direction either East, or South or West or North. For certain directions there are auspicious and inauspicious timings to  make a journeys. So we must have to observe these conditions of Week, Soola which one kind of Dosha and Tidhi and Nakshatra for Tarabalam..

But, the jourenys those we make in the early monrings of 2 and 1 ½ hourse before the Sun Rise, there will not be any kind of conditions. There will not be any Dosha of week, tidhi, nakshatra etc., and also the direction like  the East, South, West and North. Totally exemption for only the journeys in the early monrings. Hence we can make that without having any doubts.
The Directions (Disah) (Compass-Points) and their ruling Deities. What are they ?

In our day to day life , all the Hindus without using those words, do not have any customs and dealings with the affairs. In our Mythologies and in the ancient classical sacred Scripts, it was given specifically for the directions. All we know the Sun God rises in the East.

Scientifically it might be said in different way. But the Hindus believe so strongly the God Sun is the Karma Sakshi and the life begins from his rising time. He sets in the West. In the building construction point of view also we follow the systems so certainly according to the Vasthu Siddhanta. We know the Compass –Point directions are the East, South, West and North. Not only this there are some angular directions in between the two directions. So some other four directions like South East, South West, North West, and North East are also added to the above four. Then total eitht (8) directions are being considered.

For each Disah (direction) there is one Ruling Deity. For all the eight Directions, there are eight deities, there wifes, names of the Vehicles on which they go, their dwelling places, and their weapons are also given.

Direction (Disah) -Ruling Deity- Deity’s wife- Vehicle- dwell -Weapon

For the fulfil our desires what kind of Coronation (Abhishekam) in different months we should have to do for the Lord Maheswara. ?

Lord Parameswara is the Abhisheka Priyah. He gets contended even if we do prayer with the water itself. But the purity of our heart is main thing which we have to offer to Him. It is said in the Vedas and other Scripts when we do the Coronation to Maheswara it is clearly given the kinds of offer in different months (Maasa).

We know according to the Hindu Almanac (Calendar) the months are classified as Chaitra maasa, Vaisakha, Jyeshta, Ashaadha, Sravana, Bhadrapada, Aaswayuja (Asweeyuja), Kaartika, Maargasira, Pushya, Maagha and Phalghuna maasa.

We have to offer the Sugar - Cane Juice in the form of Coronation to the God, Eswara in the month of Chaitra maasa.

In month of Vaisakha, the Lord is to be worshipped with the coronation of Sandalwood paste.

In Jyeshya maasa, the Lord should be coronated with the fruits’ juice.

In Ashaadha maasa, we have to do the coronation to the God with the Milk.

In Sravana Maasa, the Lord should be worshipped with the Sugar.

In Bhadrapada maasa, we have to worship with the Cow Milk.

In Aswayuja maasa, we should worship with the cooked rice.

In Kaartika maasa, the Lord Maheswara should be worshipped with the litting lights ( means, oil lamps with wicks)

In Maarga maasa, we have to worship with the Cow Ghee.

In Pushya maasa the God Parameswara should be coronated with Honey.

In Maagha maasa we should have to worship with the pure water from the sacre river like Ganges, Godavari, Cauveri, Krishna etc.,

In Phalghuna maasa, the Lord Maheswara should be worshipped with the Curd.

In most of the Siva Temples, Rudram, Namakam and Chamakam are recited with all the above said sacred Dravyas in the festival days and timings.
Why do we salute the Threshold (Dwaramanam in Sanskrit language) in the Temples when enter into the Garbha Gudi (inner temple) or even from outside of the Garbha Gudi (outside the Sanctury) ?

In every action of Hindu Rituals and Customs there is certain explanation of the meaning is given. In the houses the gateways (thresholds) are made with Teak wood. But in the Temples, the Thresholds are made and arranged with the stones. So not like in the houses, in the Temples the Gateways are quite different.

The Stone is belonging to the Mountains. In our Mythologies, these can be known that the Sage, called Bhadra got became as Mountain in the name of Bhadra. The great Devotee, called , Himavan became as Himalaya. Another Devotee, Narayana got became as Narayanaadri. Hence they are Bhadradri, Himalayaadri and Narayanaadri. The word Adri means mountain.

For the sake of the Devotees, Lord Bhagawan came out (made known) on those Adris (Mountains). Therefore from those mountain stones, the Thresholds have been made and formed. So they are so sacred.

Every day in the temples, simultaneously with the Darshan of the God , we do Namaskar with devotion to the Gateways for the sake of its Holyness. Not only this, when we cross the Temple Gateways we pray and ask for the forgiveness for doing our action since the Gateway is nothing but a Great Sage and Devotee of the Bhagawan. So we should not cross the Gateways without doing Namaskar and also should not trample that.
Why the Goddess Sri Lakshmidevi sits in the Lotus and have the Elephants with both sides. ?

Without Air there is no space on this Earth. Without Air no man and no creature can live even a second. Air surrounds everywhere and in all directions. Where there is water there will certainly be motion with some waves. Because of the air pressure it happens..

The Lotus which arises in the Lake and revels on the water due to the Air. The Lotus moves for the water flow. This symbolizes, no stability like a Lotus, the Goddess Sri Lakshmi does not have the permanent place. The wealth moves from man to man. Hence Sri Lakshmi prefers to sit in the Lotus.

The meaning for the two Elephants staying in both sides ... if a man does have the money or wealth with him, he feels as if he possess such a mighiness of great Elephants. Therefore the real symbolizm is like a Lotus the Goddess Sri Lakshmi does not stay permanently at one place. And also if money is with us we will have a great strength like Elephants.
What are the benefits of different Charities (Danam) ?

The human beings have kindness and magnanimity to offer donations and charitiees to those who need of that. By nature the mankind does have that mercy and generosity. But the donor should not expect any result from his generosity. It must be a nishkama karma means no result oriented action. But in our scripts for every action and karma the consequence is said.In Hinduism the marriage is a great Samkara which is tied up with Samskruti of our customs.

1). The father offers his daughter to the bridegroom. In the marriage celebration is called Kanyadanam. For the Kanyadanam the consequence will be Brahmalokaprapti.
2). If we offer Gold as charity to any worthy person the result will be Vishnulokaprapti. 3). If we donate a Horse, the result will be Gandharvalokaprapti. 4) If an Elephant is donated the result will be Sivalokaprapti. 5) If the House is donated the result will be having the mercy of Sri MahaVishnu. 6). If the Plough is offered as a charity the result will be received the Gracious from Lord Sri Krishna. 7) If the Land is donated the result will be dwelling of Lord Sivaloka. 8) If the Bull is donated the result will be having the birth in the Mrutyunjayaloka. 9) If the Cow is donated the consequence will be dwelling in the Sri Vaikuntaloka.
What is the Brahmee Muhurtam ?

Brahmee Muhurta is the most auspicious time for all the Dhyana, Tapah, Japa and also for Yoga etc., Hindus believe this Muhurta does not have any dosha for kinds of rituals.

In the Kruta Yuga, Kasyapa Brahma’s wife was Vinata. Anoorah was born to those Sage couple. But mMother Vinata was so eagerly wanted to see her son, she broke the egg of the ovum before Anoorah was born. On that reason, Anoorah was born with a half body. He was the Charioteer of the Sun God.

Brahma Deva made Anoorah as a Charioteer to the Sun and said to him when you stay in the Bhoolokah, the time itself is Brahma Muhurta which is Brahmee Muhurta. At that time, any kind of Dosham (evil effect) can not be worked out. Means the Stars, or the Planets can not show their evil effects on all the human beings. With this blessings, Anoorah was given that boon by Brahma Deva. And also Anoorah was made a Charioteer to the Sun by Brahma Deva
How to behave and how to live ?

So many Sastras say laws, virtues and alms for the human beings to live in this society and designed many code of conducts. Living within the boundary of laws and alms might be so difficult. But ultimately man can acheive and get the highest happines in the world. Contentment with character plays a key role in the lives.
Python lives happily whatever it gets food and stays at one place. It does not try for any another food.

Butterfly feats honey fromthe flowers without creating any troubles to others.
Honey–bee creates a bee-hive and makes honey in it.

The Deer easily gets attracted to the music and other things.
The Fish are caught in the fish-hook for the earthworm.
The infant gets satisfied and sleeps well after taking milk.
The Sculptor concetrates his mind on the Sclptures and Idols.
In the above examples we can know a great meaning in each one and learn to live not only for the welfare of the society but also for the highest happiness and content.

We have to live like a Python for the total contentment. We should not give any troublems and problems to others just like Butterflies. We should have to accumulate the Dharma for the welfare of the society as the Honey Bees do. We must not get attracted like Deers and Fish for any thing get into any troubles. We should be satisfied like Infants for the things what ever we get. We have to keep our motto towards the Dharma (Alms) and also surrender to the God. We ought to live for the Welfare of others and also for the other creatures.

The Sages (Yatis) ,who do not have the Philosophy and Spirituality, after death , the Deity Indra gave them as food to hunting dogs. When the Dogs were eating the corpses, the skulls fallen on the earth. After that, the skulls were grown as Date Fruits.
These things are not impurites and uncleaniness. What are they ?

In Hindu Customs there are many impurites and uncleniness which are treated as bad and which can not be mixed with any one of the household things and also the items of Pooja Mandir.

Suppose, if any one sees the corpse or touches it, he does certainly takes head bath and washes his cloths etc., and then enters his house. He never touch any articles, things in the house with out purify and cleaning himself.

Here, the Turmeric Powder, Kumkum, Flowers, Fruits, Betul –nut, betel leaves, Milk, Curd, Honey, Basil (Tulasi), Sandal wood, Ghee, Vegetables are totally treated as auspicious things.

The turmeric powder is used for auspicious purpose only. That is not used for any preparation of cooking and the Kumkum should not be used for worshipping of other dieties.
Why the Basil plant is worshipped in front of the house ?

Tulasi (Sanksrit name) is the name of Basil in English. For the Hindus the Basil is most auspicious plant in all kinds of things like pooja, medicine and other process. Vishnu Tulasi, Krishna Tulasi and Lakshmi Tulasi like wise some species can be grown. They are grown in the yard, in the big pots and also they are arranged to grow in a very small decorated forts.

The Tulasi is most beloved for Lord Sree MahaVishnuh. And also affectionate in all aspects. Goddess Sree Lakshmi is in the form of Tulasi. It is strongly believed that there will not be any kind of ghosts, and evil spirits if the Tulasi plant is grown in the houses. The air from the Tulasi , perish the insects. This Tulasi leaves are used as medicine in Ayurvedic system right from the controlling of cough, cold, headache, blodd pressure etc., It is like an anti-biotic medicine.

In the Kruta Yuga when the Suras (Devatas) were performing the Ksheera Sagar Madhanam for Nector (Amrutam) ( Vasuki, the king of snakes was as rope, Mandara mountain was as churning stick and the ocean of Milk . i.e., ksheerasagar was as the curd) so many celestial things and objects were come out from that process. Some of the celestial obects were sent to this earth (Bhoolokah). So Tulasi is one among those things. Hence the Tulasi is being worshipped.
Doing affronts without knowledge at the time of Deeparadhana. (worshipping with oil lamps) What are they ?.

It is given the sacred place for the worshipping with oil lamps (Deeparadhana) on any festivity. This system is must for any kind of worshipping or beginning for any auscipious occasion in Hindu customs. In the Temples all the Purohits (Priests) lit the oil lamps.

The Success of any work on Vijaya Dasami Day (10th day of Asweeyuja Maasa Sukla Paksha ).

The Vijaya Dasami comes every year on Dasara Days in Asweeyuja Maasa. We strongly believe that Vijayadasami is the most auspicious day for any work which is started. The nine day adornment for Goddess Parvathi Devi is being performed with special worships. In every temple the festival is oserved so grandeurly and also so as to every street the Goddess is worshipped in different Deity Forms on the stage in the decorated pandals. The tength day is the Vijaya Dasami for the Goddess.

We have a very strong sentiment and on this day if we start any work with good intention, that will be a triumph and will be gained with blessings.

That Vijaya Dasami day, the star would be Sravana Nakshatra (22nd star from Aswani Nakshtra). The tidhi is Vijaya Dasami of Asweeyuja Maasa. On that day when the twilight enters ( When the evening of Sandhya comes), the next time would be most Asupicious time which is for Vijayam (Success). Means upto the two Ghatikas (48 minutes) after the twilight (Evening) (approximately upto 6.48 pm) the Para Sakthi (Maata Parvathi) will be most mighter than any one. Hence, then at that time if we begin any work there will not be any obstructions, hardships and the work will be done so easily with fruitful results.

Most of the elders and parents perform the Askharabhyasam (beginning of the priliminary education) to their small children (above 3 years) on Vijaya Dasami Day with all sacred rituals by the Purohits (Priests).

The Vijaya Dasami is also known as Auspicious Muhurtam.

On this day in the Dwapara Yuga, in the Mahabharata when the Agnatavasa period was over, the Arjuna who was in the Brihannala semblance got his missiles from the Samee Tree to fight with Kauravas in the Uttara Gograhanam.
What are the timings for the Darshan of the different Temples ?

All of us visit the temples and worship the God and meditate and do Japa. In some of the Mythologies it is said for certain timings are allowted for the darshan of the Gods.

It is so auspicious time if we visit the temple of Sri Vishnu ealy in the monring (the time is Pratyusha ). It is auspicious when we go to the temple of Lord Maha Siva in the evening time ( the time is called as Pradosha).

Lord Sri Maha Vishnu is Stithi karaka who is Organizer of this world. Hence He removes all of our troubles, problems in our day to life. He gives the intellectuality and make us happy in our lives.

Lord Maha Siva is a Laya Karaka who is destroyer of this world. So at the end of the day time means in the twilight ( which Pradosha kala) if we have the Darshan of Lord Maha Siva, He besows the multiple benefits to us.

Hence we have to pray the Gods with silently and tranquility with full of confidence.

What are the gains and loss of the dreams when we have ?

When we sleep all of us dream some kind of dreams. It is said some dreams give positive results and some other give negative results in the lives. Some people do not believe the dreams come true and other believe, certainly the dreams come true in life. We do not know what type of dreams we will have before we go to bed.

Suppose, in the dream if we fly in the air, the result would be the loss of property.
In the dream if any one walks without cloths, the result would be that he will not have any troubles.

Suppose, if we have the dream of Gods, Goddess, Angels, Dieties, Cows, Agni (Fire), lakes or ponds or tanks , mountains, maidens, rivers, crossing the oceasns, these give the results of one can get more wealth and health.

Suppose, in the dreams if anyone goes towards the East and North dreictions , the result would be that he will get his beloved lady. If he dreams the deadbody (corpse) surely he will be going to face the troubles in future.

Like wise, people believe the dreams.
Who are the real Enemies. ?

All of our Hindu Sacred Scripts like Bhagavatam, Bhagavadgita,Upanishads, Mythologies etc state, people believe the real enemies are in the outside of the world. But that is not true. The real enemies are within ourselves whihc are Egoism, Greed, Lust, Hatred, Anger and Jealousy. Not all of them, even if we have a single bad quality , surely it ruins us.

According to the Sacred scripts, There are some enemies who are called as real enemies in our lives. The scripts say the man who becomes bankruptcy by doing debts or business and make his family as beggers for aims is a real enemy.

The lady as a wife who perfidies (cheats) her husband and make him disregarded in the society is also a real enemy.

The lady who is ugly and having bad qualities and characterless to her husband is also an enemy.

The son who is arrogant, irrational and blockhead is also an enemy to his father.
These are all real enemies to a man and he can not conquest over them.
Why the Ladies are prevented from prostrate adoration (Sashtanga Namaskaram) to the God ?

In all our Hindu sacred places like Temples, in the Pooja Mandir, Homa, Yagna etc., the Gents are allowed to do the prostrate adoration to the God or even to the Swamy jis. Prostrate Adoration means the body’s eight parts i.e., chest, forehead, two hands, two legs, the two eyes. With these eight parts we have to touch the ground do the adoration. This is called Sashtanga Namaskaram.

But it is restricted for ladies to do that. When a lady does that prostrate, the stomach touches the ground. The stomach has the foetus. If she does like that, any harm may be happened to the womb. But it is said the lady can do the adoration by sitting on her knees and she can do the adoration by bendin her waist
Who are the responsible for the Sins ?

Knowingly or unknowing, the man one who commits sin and does the crime or harmness to others certainly he will undergo the punishment for that. But as per Hindu Scripts, they say the people who commit the sin, the consequence will be attained by the King, whom the people under his rulership. If the King commit the sin, the Purohit (Priest) will get that result. If the wife does that the concerned husband will have the conseqnence. LIke wise, if the Disciple does the sin , the teacher will have that result. If the son does it, the mother would be the responsible for the result, if the daugher commits the sin the father will attain the consequence.
No use of these things. What are they ?.

There are certain unwanted things which are not useful .
They are ..

1) The forehead without blotch

2) The money which is not spent for rightful things.

3) The teacher without a qualified student

4) The country where there is no justice

5) The King without Power, wealth and strategem

6) The disrespected husband (by his wife)

7) The knowledge without wisdom

8) The knife which is rusted and sharpless

9) The Cattle which do not give milk

It is bluntly said, though we have all those things, they are useless. All are equal to one another.
When should not we eat our food ?

In this Universe we have direct Gods whom we see daily, it is the Sun and also Moon. The Sun is our Pratyaksha Daivam which is Karma Sakshi. But these two Planets what we worship as Gods, have Eclipse in every year. They are Solar eclipse and Lunar eclipse. They are nothing but Soorya Grahanam and Chandra Grahanam.

Before 12 hours from Surya Grahanam and also 9 hours from Chandra Grahanam we should not eat any food. Once the eclipse is over then after washing the house, and taking head bath then we have to cook and eat. And also the Darbah (Kusah) are to be placed on certain eatables like pickles and fruits etc.,

When the cattle ( like Cow or she-buffalo) gives birth to its calf, for the next ten days we should not drink its milk. The complete milk must be left for its calf.

We should not eat our food with wet feet and go to sleep with dry feet. It is not good for health. Before going to sleep, we have to wash our feet and then sleep. Near by our bed the water vessel must be kept.
What are the living places for the Goddess Sree Mahalakshmi ?

Where the devotion for the God, Teacher (Guru), Mother and Father, there the wealth would follow that person.

The man who is sluggard, who always sleeps the Sri Lakshmi does not stay in their house.
If the house is not tidily, if the gatewar (threshold) is not decorated with turmeric powder and kumkum, the lady who does do any kind of household work a dn worship the god in the 5 days period of menses, the Goddess Sree Mahalakshmi leaves that hosue.

The designs of flour (Rangavalli) , Turmeric Powder, Kumkum, Flowers, Milk, Fruits, lighting incense, oil lamp ( Dhoopa and Deepa) and natural aroma etc., are the living places for Sree Lakshmi.
What can not be achieved (attained) for ever ?

In this life, for certain things, we can not estimate the value. Unless with a good heart if it is done or practiced that value can not be known or experienced.

When a child enters into boyhood, at his house and school also the value for the time is taught with many examples. Punctuation is more important. So one must have the timesense for any kind of work. Though the life is struggling for existence, we have to run after the time. If we see the planets, like the Sun, the Moon, the Earth etc ., we can observe how they are functioning and bound over time. If we miss the particular time to fulfil our duties, surely we are loosing almost every thing in life. So Time can not be taken back once if it is lost.

In this way, a released arrow from the bow can not be taken back. If once a word is uttered from our mouth can not be taken back. If we miss the golden opportunity also can not be again got. There fore we have to utilize the time fruitfully. When we talk with others we should have to think twice or thrice and then talk sensefully. Then we will not get any negative results. Even the opportunity comes very rarely. So that should be uilized timely, so open the door for that.. After that if we try or go for that the Goddess Sri Lakshmi (Fortune) does not show her face. The same Golden Opportunity goes and knocks on some others house. Hence for this only the elders say “ What is use to hold the green leaves after the hands are burnt.”
Why do we drink water early in the morning ?

It is said in the early days that one has to drink water by holding one’s hand together to form a cup atleast 10 to 12 times (means it would be approximately 1 ½ to 2 litres ) immediately when getting up from the bed. The result of benefit can not be explained for that. It makes the system of the body healthy, spiritual and youthful. If it is make practice for the both young and old, they will not suffer from any digesting problem and also kidneys problems.

The Copper is meant for so good for health wise. The metal has electro magnetic energy which is Prana Sakthi. In Ayurveda Sastra it is clearly given if the water is kept in the Copper Vessel for 8 to 10 hours and then if it is taken (drunk), 100 % of benefic results will certainly be got. So even these days also in some of the houses, some people at night ( after meals) pour the water in the Copper Vessel and drink that water next day early morning. So let us all practice this.
Taking bath without water. What for and what are they ?.

Hence , even though if we take bath with water, if we can do those kinds of baths devotionally   we feek as if we can have Heavenly Blessings.
Why do we do Achamanam (sipping water in driblets ) before and after eating food?

Before eating food, sipping  some small quantity of water around the platter of leaves, ( or these days plates)  and then by saying Amrutamastu ( which will become  nector) and taking inside  some little water and  then recall Yamadharmaraja, Chitragupta and other Deities and leaving the little Annam  (cooked rice)  at right side and eating their food is called Achamanam These customs  are  being prctised  very sacredly and devotionally. Ofcourse in this system there is one secret  also.

Sipping the water around the plates or platter of leaves , means the many  unvisible insects should not  be entered  into the food. And also once if that Achamanam is over , then  one kind of  protected  armour will form and stop those inesects.  Once, after eating food by doing again the Achamanam the protected armour will be cleared and the insects can go on their own way. This is the reason for doing Achamanam  at the time eating.
